Following Tuesday's election results, Democrats should take caution in what will happen with the "Walkergate" John Doe investigations. I'll direct you over to Cognitive Dissidence, as his write-up and coverage of the entire saga has been top notch and beyond anything I could image reporting. Be sure to read, and read, and read some more.
However, late this past week I happenstance ran into more than one knowledgeable source on the subject and have been told that an indictment is maybe further off than we would have though before the election. The report from David Schuster focusing on the federal aspect of this case is certainly not without merit, but as my source said, "Remember, this is Eric Holder's Justice Department". I was also told that, "it will take a very "strong willed prosecutor to bring the case forward", and lead to believe there may be some shake-ups in the DA's office and who's investigating the entire case. I don't really have any specifics on this. (Or if it's even new news).
Lastly, any charges being brought up with him having such a large margin of victory would be hard to advance. I was told that if the election were close, charges would likely be filed very soon, but the shear size of his victory is making that difficult. Then again, maybe everyone is just freaked out at the idea of Rebecca4Realz as Governor of the state of Wisconsin....
Internet rumor is so easy to spread, so I would certainly make the disclaimer, take all of this in stride as I have absolutely no legal training. Who knows, he could be brought up on state level charges Monday morning, but from my seat it seems like this thing has taken a subtle yet crucial turn. I want to know what news comes out this week from the Milwaukee Co. DA's office on this whole ordeal. Stay tuned I suppose.
